Grandma's Fave...

I made this painting last year. Unfortunately it did not turn out well. But somehow it is my Grandma's fave picture...guess being near-sighted makes a perfectly mediocre painting a real work of art....hehehe...she just adores it and says it is a great painting and i've not really taken the pains to correct her either....hehehehe

Baby steps towards the oil medium

Well hello there!

i'm back before i thought i'd be...was going thru some old snaps and came across that of a painting i did in college, nearly 4 years ago. It was my juvenile attempt at oil painting with somewhat dubious results, obviously. anyways thought i could post this one as well to measure my progress(if at all...hehehe) over the years.

dunno what made me paint this...kinda a scary tree...tree's halloween night i guess! :-)

My First Commission

Thought of making a new post today....nothing much to write about. Just keeping my promise to upload the first picture of season 'o7.

This is one of the first knife paintings i've ever done. pretty much experimentation and the like. Done in acrylic on canvas board. And the painting's kinda special coz it's been sort of my first commission. Now it resides in the bedroom of my li'll cousin Arathi in San diego.

So near yet so far....

The Perfect Picture which poses alluringly beyond the mind's eye has been as elusive as it is enchanting. And it is this quest for the perfect picture keeps me reaching for the paintboxes. Time and again.

Chasing a dream...

For me painting is not a mere medium of expression...some how over the years it has become a way of life.

For me the canvas has a third dimension...it holds something beyond mere daubs and strokes.

For me colours represent power...the power of creation.

For me the themes are endless....the earth,the sky,the heavens,mortals,gods,the entire cosmos.

i know i have been waxing eloquent( or so i think :-P) for soooooooooo long. maybe its a little bit more than what you possibly can stomach on a blog post on paintings. well the bottom line is

I LOVE PAINTING...and that's pretty much to be said about it.
